Ghost Hounds Live Album Review 08-15-2022

I got an email from my good friend Joe Bonamassa the other day reminding me that his Keeping The Blues Alive cruise was coming up shortly. I know, I know, I’m just a soul on his mailing list, but what the heck one can dream. Anyway, included in the email was the lineup of musicians for the cruise. Always on the lookout for new music, I took said list, or treasure map, and off to Amazon music I go. Why yes, I did make a new discovery, this week I give you “Ghost Hounds” for your blues album of the week consideration. Ghost Hounds hale from Pittsburgh, Pa. They have 4 albums out, this one “Ghost Hounds Live” was released in 2021. (yes I went for the live album again). Wow! If these guys would have come out in the 70’s, they might very well be in the pantheon of American rock bands from that time. They have all the chops, tone, vocals and tunes that make a very enjoyable listening experience. I will tell you that I will be watching out for Ghost Hounds coming to one of our local venues, I need to see these guys. On to the review, we kick it off with “Fire Under Water”, a funky, bluesy number to get everything started right. “Almost Loved You” has lovely country blues feel akin to the Stones. Another highlight would be “When Your Shadow Touches Mine” with its wonderful feel that comes straight out of ‘76. We end it with the driving boogie of “Bad News”. This is great album with solid rock, blues, soul entries, however, there is a nice surprise buried in the middle, how bout Cliff Richard’s “Devil Woman” I really dug this one. Ok, here we go, short sweet and to the point, go to your favorite music source and check out Ghost Hounds.
