Corey Stevens Myth Live Album Review 08-10-2022

So last week my good friend Charlie Rondeau sent me a DM, asking if I had heard of guitarist Corey Stevens, well since I had not, I was off on another treasure hunt. I found a plethora of good info on Mr Stevens, he has released 11 albums since 1995, how the heck have I not heard of this guy? By golly, that’s a question that must be rectified. I sampled several of Corey’s studio works to find good tone, good songs, and good vocals, flavors of country, along with a surprise Atlanta Rhythm Section / Allman Bros feel that I wasn’t expecting. Of course I settled on the live album, did you have to ask? “Myth Live” released in 2008. Once again we have a guitarist who isn’t afraid of letting a Strat sound like a Strat. Now, on to the album…. We kick off with “Another Pretty Face”, a blues rocker to get you on your feet. Followed by the equally grooving “My Blues Are Turning Red”, which definitely makes my highlights list. Some other highlights include “It’s Over”, “Something I Can’t Do”, and “Big House Blues”. Shades of Clapton on Corey’s guitar tone, I also dig the slight slur I hear in his vocals. Great stuff from Corey Stevens, your turn to take a listen.
