Andy Aledort Light of Love Album Review 07-03-2022

A happy July 4th weekend to you all, this week’s blues album of the week I bring you Andy Aledort Light of Love, released in January 2022, 18 songs coming in at a hair over 1.5 hrs run time. 17 original songs, plus one cover of Muddy Waters’ “You Shook Me”. Now I was aware of Mr Aledort thru his many Guitar World articles and of course his multiple instructional courses on Truefire. I own several of Andy’s Truefire courses and I find him to be an exceedingly talent player, not to mention his teaching abilities are top notch. So when I found out he had an album coming out I knew I had to pick this one up, because it simply had to be good. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Andy has the tasty chops, the all important Tone, Tone, Tone that one could ask for. We open with the title track “Light of Love”, great tune with a nice touch of slide work. We finish up with “You Shook Me”, a driving blues with the perfect overload of wah wah drenched guitar work along with some tasteful keyboards. Highlights include “Cool Water”, “Lost and Lonely”, “Have Mercy on Me”, “Spacedog”. Light of Love gives one a mix of country, blues, R & B, funk, plus nice SRV, Allman Bros, Hendrixian flavorings, even some Edgar Winter influences mixed throughout the album. Great stuff from Andy Aledort, check him out!
