Eric Clapton UnPlugged Deluxe Edtion Album Review 03-27-2022

How bout Blues Album of the week time? Que: Old ladies clapping drop from the old Monty Python series. This week I bring for your enjoyment, one Eric Clapton: Unplugged (deluxe edition)! I won’t bore you with accolades about Mr Clapton, I mean the dude was named “god” back in the sixties for cryin out loud. What more can one say? But I digress, Clapton on acoustic with minimal backing musicians you gotta like that. This one was released in 1992 as a part of the MTV Unplugged Series. You remember MTV don’t you, the channel that played music? Yes, but that was a long long time ago, not so much anymore. Alright we fire it off with a jazz-tinged “Signe”, right into “Before You Accuse Me”. How about some down and dirty blues standards with “Nobody Loves You When Your Down and Out” followed by “Worried Life Blues”. This is the album that brought us that glorious acoustic version of “Layla”, which I confess might just be my favorite version of the song. Some more highlights include, “Walkin Blues”, “Rolling and Tumbling” and the hauntingly beautiful “My Father’s Eyes”. Tone you ask? Its Clapton! Of course there’s great tone! Now pour yourself a nice brown beverage, sit back and enjoy some good tunes.
