Hey Happy Peoples, it’s time to get the Blues again, and that can only mean one thing, yeppers it’s Blues Album of the Week time! This week we give you Artur Menezes Fading Away, an EP released in October of 2020. Mr Menezes is brought to us by way of Brazil, he’s a young man with highly impressive chops and of course glorious tone. This is old school blues-rock with new school style. Fading Away is a short album of only 8 songs, but my goodness the man says a lot in 8 tunes. Hints of Bonamassa, flow throughout this selection, without stealing Joe’s licks outright, as heard on “Come On”. The song “Northeast” is an example of some Albert Lee influences. Highlights include the title song “Fading Away”, “Fight for Your Love”, the smooth slow blues of “Until I Can See”. We finish up with the roadhouse feel of “Green Card Blues”, grinding with nice dirt. I discovered Artur when Amazon served him up as a suggestion. I of course did a little treasure hunting and once again struck gold. Give Artur Menezes a listen.
