Chris Cain Unscheduled Flight Album Review 02-07-2022

Alright Blues fans, here’s this week’s album of the week. We first introduced this individual almost a year ago, today I bring you another offering from the great Chris Cain, “Unscheduled Flight”, released in November 1997. Over the past year, Chris has been one of my must go-tos, he is always consistent, with great vocals, good to great songs (no lemons in the pile), excellent guitar lines and of course “TONE!”. One of the many things I like about Chris Cain, is his control, he plays to the song, for the song, you don’t get a blaze flurry of notes just so he can show off. Although one feels that if he wanted to he could go on a shred fest to that would impress even the most hardcore speed freaks. Now, let’s get down to business, to start we fire off “Drinking Straight Tequila”, a Texas-style 12 bar blues burner. We end with the title track “Unscheduled Flight”, an upbeat Larry Carltonisque instrumental guaranteed to leave you wanting more. Highlights include, the bebob flavored “Blues for Curtis J”, to “Change my Luck”, “Three Nights Without my Baby”, “You Give Me Strength”. Give Mr Cain a listen you will dig it, yes you shall.
