Here we go with this week’s Blues Album, today I give you The Jeff Healey Band’s Cover to Cover. This one keeps popping up in my random Amazon rotation that I figured, well it’s time for Jeff. As the title suggests, these are covers, some all instrumental, some with vocals, but all with Jeff’s impeccable style and tone (yes the tone word, must seek out great tone!). How bout we fire it up with the Yardbirds, “Shape of Things”, and end with Lonnie Johnson’s “Me and my Crazy Self”, with a bunch of good stuff in between. Highlights include Zep’s “Communication Breakdown”, Robert Johnson’s “Stop Breaking Down”, you can almost taste the Strat on Muddy Waters’ “I’m Ready”. The absolutely beautiful rendition of Hendrix’s “Angel”. This collection of covers not only show off Jeff Healey’s immense talent, but his faithful reproduction of the originals, while at the same time offering a bit of himself. Want a good time? Get in the car and crank up Howlin Wolf’s “Evil” you shant be disappointed. We lost Jeff a few years ago, and what a brilliant talent that was. Enjoy.
