Muddy Waters The Definitive Collection Album Review 01/23/2022

Alright good people it’s that time again, yep Blues album of the week. Today we hop in the “way-back machine” back to the fifties, sixties, and seventies and jump on the bus with the Father of Chicago Blues, Muddy Waters: The Definitive Collection. Although, Muddy left us in April of 1983, he gave us a ton of great music while he was here. This is a “best of”, some don’t like the best of album. However, when there are 66 albums to wade through, the good ole “best of” is a fair route to take. This collection has it all, your staples such as “Mannish Boy”, “Got My Mojo Working”, “I Just Wanna Make Love to You”, “You Shook Me”. Look out for jewels like “My Home is in the Delta”, “Long Distance Call”, and of course “Rollin Stone”. Sometimes these older recordings are a bit lacking in the sound quality department and this one has it’s issues, but look past that, grab a bourbon or maybe a PBR, sit back in your “comfy chair” and dig some great blues from one of the masters.
