B.B. King Christmas A Celebration of Hope Album Review 12-23-2021

I thought everybody might be ready to get out the razor blade after hearing Mariah Carey’s Christmas beating for the eight thousandth time, if that didn’t get you then throw in Andy Williams “Coming down the Chimney” that oughta kick you over the edge. But Dave you say, what can we listen to this time of year without wanting to drive our cars into a lake? Well your humble servant has got you taken care of, how bout Dave’s blues album of the week Christmas edition? I have to tell you, a decent Christmas Blues album is tough to find, you can find the occasional single, but a whole album is a little harder. But have no fear I have persevered! I give you BB King A Christmas Celebration of Hope, a gem released in 2001 to meet all your seasonal needs! We start the party off with the smooth blues of “Please Come Home for Christmas”, have some fun with “Back Door Santa”, add in the glorious “I’ll be Home for Christmas”, crank it up for “Merry Christmas Baby” and you’ve got yourself a holiday winner. So if you are longing for a little more than a “Hippopotamus for Christmas”, go ahead and ease on into the season with Mr B.B. King! Merry Christmas, God Bless us everyone!
