Tony Spinner Live in Europe Album Review 01-02-2022

Happy New Year Blues fans, it’s the first blues album of the week for 2022. We did 47 reviews in 2021, we’re going to try for the full 52 this year. Ok, now I will shut up and get down to business. This week’s album is Tony Spinner, “Live in Europe”. Released in 2007, 11 blistering songs. This was/is another one of my random discoveries. I didn’t know the name, but when I hit play all I can say is Wow! Smooth, clean chops with just the right amount of dirt. Tony’s got it, great tone, vocals, and some cool funk thrown in. Great Stuff. The opener “IRS Blues” sets the mood and off we go on a fun musical journey. Highlights, “Turn It Up”, “Caledonia”, the smokin’ groove of “Freedom”, a fantastically ridiculous version of ZZ Top’s “Thunderbird”, with a lovely nod to Alvin Lee thrown in. What more can I say, there’s a lot of make ya wanna drive fast fun in this collection.
