This weeks Blues album is one Ryan McGarvey, Forward in Reverse, released in December 2006. 49 minutes of glorious of tone and groove. Ryan has decided not to irk me in one of my pet peeves, he has chosen to allow his stratocaster to sound like a bleeping Stratocaster, well done good Sir ! I found Mr McGarvey during one of my treasure hunts on Amazon Music. Ryan has several albums out, I just randomly chose this one, (good choice Daveo). Killer tone, amazing chops, the aforementioned Strat sounding like a Strat. Flavors of SRV, Philip Sayce, Marcus King and a little Allman Bros make for an enjoyable listening experience. From the gritty opener of “Right in All the Wrong Ways” to the rockabilly of “Texas Special”, Ryan shows his prowess brilliantly. Highlights, “Blue Eyed Angel Blues”, “Cryin’ Over You”, “Watch Yourself”. Throw in some fat humbucker tones and you’ve got another winner. Good Stuff from Ryan McGarvey, check him out.
