Griff Hamlin and the Single Barrel Blues Band I’ll Drink to That Album Review 11-14-2021

Ahoy there Blues fans! It is my job to introduce, re-introduce, suggest blues music you may or may not have heard. Sometimes it’s an artist you know but may have forgotten about, sometimes it’s someone new. This week it’s Griff Hamlin and the Single Barrel Blues Band. “I’ll Drink to That”, released in 2019. SBB is guitar driven with the added addition of a horn section making their sound full and expressive, while retaining that soulful blues feeling we all love. This is a big, fun band you need to hear and see live. At one time based in California, Griff now resides here in North Texas. You can catch them at local venues around the area. Alright, here we go. Grab yourself a bourbon and crank it up. The album kicks off with “Almost Level to The Ground”, driving sound with catchy hooks, that grabs you and keeps you for the duration of the album. From big band gusto to glorious slow blues there is something for everyone. Oh yes, we don’t want to forget the “T” word! Yep TONE ! Great tone for the guitar and Griff’s definitely got the chops to go with that tone.

Highlights; “Someone”, “Louisiana Holiday”, “Don’t Lie”, this is another one of those albums where there’s not a clunker in the set. Check it out, you will absolutely dig it. Watch for them to come to your neck of the woods, they are lots of fun live.
