Well now! It’s time for Dave’s blues album of the Week. This week I have a treat for you, I’ve done one BB King album before but not Eric Clapton as of yet. Well the treat is, this album is by both Eric and BB. This one is a lot of fun to listen to, first it’s an interesting side by side study of the individual styles of Mr King and Mr Clapton. They also do some “call and response” vocally, I got a kick out of listening to BB’s “response” to Eric’s “calls”. The end of the title song “Ridin with the King” is a prime example. But I digress , on to the highlights, again this is one of those albums where there just isn’t a bad tune. Anyway, my personal fav’s include, “Key to the Highway”, “Three O’Clock Blues, “ Help the Poor (Poor me)”, “Worried Life Blues”,and “Hold on I’m Coming”. If you have heard or have listened to a lot of BB King, you will greatly appreciate Clapton’s take on this songs. Enjoy.
