John Mayall and the BluesBreakers w/Eric Clapton…. The Beano Album 08/16/2021

Well here we are again, it’s blues album of the week time. This week I bring you John Mayall and The BluesBreakers w/ Eric Clapton. The album is often referred to as “The Beano Album”, the album is untitled, but the cover art has Clapton reading a copy of the Britsh comic Beano. Eric reportedly did not like looking at the camera for photos, hence he opted to read a magazine. And once again I digress. This album is noted for a couple of firsts, “Ramblin on my Mind” is the first time Mr Clapton was recorded singing solo. The other first is a bit murky, its reported that this is the first time a Les Paul thru a distorted Marshall amp was recorded. Some highlights, the aforementioned “Ramblin on my Mind”, “Parchman Farm”, “What’d I Say”, Eric’s cover of Freddie King’s “Hideaway”. Now if you partake of this work via one of the streaming services, it comes in two versions, Mono and Stereo, make sure you get the stereo version. I wasted about 3-4 days listening before I realized I had the mono version. Please check it out, good stuff from John Mayall and the boys.
