B.B. King Live at the Regal 7-4-2021

Well now, it’s time for another Blues Album review, so we are finally finishing off the trifecta with, yep it’s B.B. King, Live at the Regal. Released in January of 1965, I was just almost 2 years old. I remember it quite vividly, (sure you do). Long acclaimed as one of B.B.’s best recordings, I would have to agree. I have gone thru a bunch of B.B’s recordings and there are lots of repeated tunes. This is, again, a “live” album and the recording quality is pretty darn good for the 1960’s time frame. We fire it off with what I believe to be Mr. King’s signature tune, “Every Day I have the Blues”, yes I know what you are thinking, but like I said this is my personal opinion. We follow that with “Sweet Little Angel”. B.B.’s voice is full and clear, his chops are in great shape, as shown on “Please Love Me”, his big band shadows him well without being too overpowering. Other Highlights include, “How Blue Can You Get?”, “You Upset Me Baby”, finally ending with “Help the Poor”, (help poor me). Yes sir, one of the best.
