This week’s Blues Album is Willie Phoenix, This Ain’t 1968. Released in Sept 2020, 9 songs. It’s a quick listen, but a worthy listen. Nice shades of The Hollies, David Bowie, T-Rex flavor mixed thru out. I really dug the thro-back , retro stylings. Let’s go ahead and mention that our good friend Steven Day Carter is Mr Phoenix’s drummer. Alright, some highlights: the opener “Shake Me”, the closer “Looking for Elvis”, I very much liked the soul of “It Rains in London” and “Soul Song”. Good stuff from Willie Phoenix and the Soul Underground. Please take a listen.
