Josh Smith Live at the Spud Album Review 03-06-2022

Well and Good Morning, looks like it’s time for another installment of the highly coveted and sought after Blues Album of the Week. This week we go to L.A. and the Baked Potato Jazz Club for Josh Smith Live at the Spud! What can one say about Josh that hasn’t been said, he is a stupid good guitarist, great songwriter, gifted “Man of Tone”, heck of a nice guy! Live at the Spud was released in January of 2020, ya’ll remember 2020 don’t you, the pandy year, the year everyone wanted to shoot the Lone Ranger if they heard another “who was that masked man” joke ever again. Looks like this was recorded pre-covid in early to middle 2019. Highlights, we fired it off with “How Long”, end with
Where’s my Baby”, with 7 glorious tunes in the middle, which btw is one of the highlight songs. Look out for “The Middle” and the ridiculous “Triple J Hoedown”, along with “The Pusher”, “Letting You Go”. Josh is one of those players that when he hits a wrong (bad) note, all the listener thinks is “hmm, that was interesting, I like it”. Another great offering from the brilliant Josh Smith.
