Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Texas Flood Album Review 12-12-2021

Alright it’s Blues Album of the week time again! This week, you may well ask me, what took you so long? How bout SRV’s debut album Texas Flood? This masterpiece was released June 1983 to spark a resurgence of blues music that had been fading since the early 70’s. I remember clearly, which is saying a lot these days, when Texas Flood came out, it absolutely blew the collective minds of guitarists everywhere. Wow!, what a scorcher. The question of, “good heavens, how is he doing that?” reverberated thru all our brains. From “Lovestruck Baby” to “Lenny”, go ahead try to pick a highlight. I will reserve to just state my favorites, “Texas Flood” and “Lenny”, of which raw, harsh Texas blues and sweet, tasty jazz-blues are featured respectfully. I was lucky enough to catch Stevie at the old State Fair park band shell, I believe it was in-between Flood and Couldn’t Stand the Weather. It was a face melting, brain imploding show to say the least. So, join me in listening again for the first time to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Texas Flood.
