Alright, this weeks Blues album is, All Blues, from the Peter Frampton Band, yes that Peter Frampton. I found this when I was searching for versions of “She Caught the Katy”. What a pleasant surprise it was. All of Frampton’s clean crisp chops are here in all their glory. Personally I always thought of Mr Frampton as a deeply underrated guitarist, you gotta get past “Comes Alive” and “I’m in You” and dig deeper. Peter was blessed with a good singing voice, but not necessarily a good blues voice. For instance, “I’m a King Bee” just doesn’t have the same overall tone as say Muddy’s verison. Some highlights include, “Same Old Blues”, “All Blues”, “Georgia on my Mind”, and the aforementioned “She Caught the Katy”. Peter brings in a few guests as well with nice touches by Larry Carlton, Sonny Landreth and Steve Morse. Most enjoyable listening from a really good guitar player.
