Robin Trower Another Days Blues.. 4-4-2021

This week I bring you another treat, this is Robin Trower, Another Days Blues. A while back I was on one of my forays to the ½ off book store in search of new to me music. What to my wondering eyes should appear?, but this Robin Trower CD! Quickly, snatch, grab and its mine. Off to the truck to find out if I indeed had found treasure. Why yes, Yes I did. Now this is not the Robin Trower of “In City Dreams”, “Bridge of Sighs”, with its Univibe, Flanger, Wah saturated guitars. It’s a lovely change of pace from the opening “Inside Out” to “This Blue Love”. Good stuff all the way, nice punchy guitar tone, you can just taste the Strat / Marshall combo.

Highlights: Someday Blues, reminiscent of BB King’s Thrill is Gone
Next in Line, nice nod to the style of Jimmy Reed Extermination Blues, gritty, grinding, I really dig this one
Crossroads, nod to Robert Johnson, good straight forward version different than most, I like it

Another Days Blues, released in 2005, Robin keeps his tradition of a small rhythm section, the basic trio with keys. If you weren’t a fan of Mr Trower because his effects laden guitar turned you off, I can certainly understand that. Give Another Days Blues a shot, I think you will enjoy it.
